Filming with the legendary Manic Street Preachers for RadioX stands as one of my favorite filming days. The entire shoot was captured in a single take, which seems simple enough but certainly made it fun and challenging! As We wanted to give the film a 90's feel, we surrounded the band with a collection of vintage box TVs, cleverly streaming live visuals from mini DV camcorders. This retro aesthetic lent an authentic feel to the production, instantly transporting you back to the 90's.
As we began filming, the challenge of keeping the camera moving throughout the continuous shot, moving from band members to TV screens kept the pace of the video without the risk of viewers loosing interest.
I also had a director in my ear on open talkback directing me when to reposition from place to place, this was great for prompts on beat counts.
The Manic's are great to work with and everything ran like clockwork...... makes a change?! Ha!
